So Irshad, Kentaro and myself have been wanting to create a concept portfolio, and to help with that, we all three decided to figure out a story and create concepts, from early concept ideas to finished concepts. We gave ourselves a week and a half time span to complete the concepts. So for the first one, we decided to all do 3 little pigs. We'll be concepting there 3 pigs and the big bad wolf. Here are some ideas I've been playing around with of the pig that uses bricks.
I like the tools/weapon idea you got.
ReplyDeletesince your pigs does not have much difference, I think those items are the key to show their characteristic.
but if you can. I would recommend changing their shapes.
like right now, their eye size are same, head size are same, body shapes are same (they just shrunk and fat towards to right)
I know you are busy busy guy. and these comments are just my preference.
but if you can you should try starting from silhouette. like the book you told me "The Skillful Huntsman"

DeleteI feel yah, I think its because I have a general idea of where I'm going with the design, like the brick pig is going to be bulky and wide because I want his presence to be more like a brick wall, sturdy, etc. While the other pigs are going to resemble more of their elements and their shape will be leaning towards that, if that makes sense. I think it'll all come together once I have them all lined up, but definitely, ill do the silhouette for sure! Thanks Kentaro!
I love the head variations, I think you've covered a very interesting range - from alf to werewolfpig to more normal piggy things. They're all really cool! The backpack cement mixer thing is hilarious too. In that vein of thinking, consider how bricks used to be made (I donno how they're made now, but I know before they were made from clay/mud, and then baked in an oven to harden them). Maybe a mobile oven could be something you could play with, a lot like you did with the cement mixer.
ReplyDeleteI was actually thinking about that, I wanted to make a design where his belly was the furnace and he would put the bricks and let them cook in there, but I wasn't sure if it was accurate to how it was made back then, but maybe I will explore that idea now! Thanks Irshad!
