Inktober 2015 and the return! (hopefully)

This poor little collaborative blog has been neglected for to long! Hopefully we can jumpstart this blog because I really do missing seeing everyone's work and being inspired by it! So to help kickstart this, here are my Inktober drawings this far!

Its been a lot of fun so far, sure these been some ink drawings that I totally half assed because I wanted to make "midnight deadline" but i've been more lenient about it and I've been doing about 2 drawings every other day to make up for the pervious day that I skipped. Ive been trying to force myself to try different inking styles with more mark making and I believe I've found some success with it, while others, not so much! I'll be playing more with the Sumi brush for the rest of the Inktober, but most likely end up using my trusty ink brush pen!

I'm in process of scanning my sketchbook and i'll post them when they're ready! I hope everyone has had a great New Year! Cheers!

Here is something that I did for a client a few months back. I'll release the full image in a few months, but heres a sneak peak until then!

3 Little Pigs Redesign

So Irshad, Kentaro and myself have been wanting to create a concept portfolio, and to help with that, we all three decided to figure out a story and create concepts, from early concept ideas to finished concepts. We gave ourselves a week and a half time span to complete the concepts. So for the first one, we decided to all do 3 little pigs. We'll be concepting there 3 pigs and the big bad wolf. Here are some ideas I've been playing around with of the pig that uses bricks.

WIP's Continued

Taken these two a little further, painting rocks/trees/foliage is a new experience for me, so it's taking a LOT longer than I expected it would, but i'm enjoying the way they're going so far. Theres still a lot to do, but tell me what you all think!
-Cheers!

Dive WIP

This one took a little a little loner than I wanted too, but I think it was worth to get the poses/angles/perspective near complete.
Next step will to figure out the castle and surrounding land and then I should be able to go into render.

There's some elements missing in the piece right now, like the shadows that the clouds will be casting over the land, maybe a couple of birds haha a cow?
anyways! tell me what you guys think!

True King (working title haha) WIP

Still pretty rough in the painting stages, but I wanted to at least throw something on it so it can be on its way. Still figuring out if I should make the rock peak a little smaller or change the shape to better suit it. Blocked in the peak to see how it felt so far, but I think ill get the full effect once the characters are blocked in and well.
Went into color first for this one, can't see a pretty romantic pink sky in grayscale values, so I'm going to try and tackle it monochromatically first and then introduce the colors I in vision into the painting.
I was at first going to have more contrast in the clouds, but it was too much attention, we'll how they come out once everything is fleshed out!
I still need to play with different variations in scale for the baboons, that might be easier once they're blocked in and I can see everything clearly (I have a super weird painting process haha)
Again! I welcome feedback!
Cheers blogmates!

Guardian WIP

So this is one of the few that I want to take into completion, There still a lot of elements that I want to include missing, but I just wanted some feedback on the overall piece so far.

Originally, I wanted some landscape in the far distance to extend the depth of the piece, but the perspective wont allow it haha.
I was wondering what you guys thought about the ledge of the cliff, does the shape bother you? I kind of want to extend the upper right hand area and move it up, almost making it more of a "U" shape.
I'm planning to re-render some of the rocks because, first of all, they looks too man made, I want a more organic feeling, do you guys have any tips on it? I wanted isolate them more into general shapes, but seems like I was unsuccessful with it.
The spirt herself, I haven't changed her pose yet, but I wanted that feeling of like when a deer notices you and has the neck turned but still has that beauty to it (ill be tackling that next)
Still missing the beast form in the reflection, so imagine that part haha!
Please tell me what you think!

Sketches

Here are some tighter sketches of looser sketches that I want to take to finish, any thoughts and ideas? I know they're rough for people to see, but general thoughts?
I want this to be like a earth spirit/guardian looking back at the viewer and in the water, her true reflection is shown and shes a massive monster

I wanted this to be a action/movement piece and he's like a brute that is grabbing people by the heads and chucking them
